Malta 2018! Second University Course on Citizen Science & Diving a success

The second university course on Citizen Science and SCUBA diving has just been successfully held in Gozo (Malta), running from February 12th till February 16th. Eight participants, including university graduates and owners of diving centres, attended the training both in the classroom and in the water.

A rich programme covered several examples of Citizen Science initiatives focusing on the marine biology and ecology of the Mediterranean Sea, as well as on the safety of diving. The participants learnt the protocols both as volunteers and as proponents, and discovered how to integrate such initiatives into improved business models for the diving industry. Marketing, technology, business diversification, legal aspects, Ocean Literacy were also touched in the discussions.

The course, targeting marine biology professionals willing to work in the diving industry, is part of the outputs of Green Bubbles, and is supported by UNIVPM, DAN Europe, NWU, GAIA, PADI, Project AWARE and Reef Check Italia onlus. A huge THANK YOU goes to Atlantis Diving Gozo, who hosted the course and provided for any needs professionally and with a smile!
