Mid-term open workshop Sept 26-27

Where do we stand, and what new perspectives are ahead of us? After nearly two years of intense work it’s time to address these questions, to best proceed through the next two years. And, as usual, we want to do so together with the various components of the diving system.

A two-day open workshop will follow the 2016 Green Bubbles internal project meeting in Santa Margherita Ligure. Set for September 26-27, the workshop is staregically scheduled after the Genoa Boat Show (September 20-25). This will facilitate the participation of a broad variety of stakeholders including, but not limited to, researchers, authorities, manufacturers, operators, certifying agencies, territorial managers, NGOs.

Six invited speakers from different sectors and disciplines will provide insiders’ view from different angles.

The chosen format will include key-notes from the project, invited key-notes, oral communications and round tables on the following themes:

DAY ONE
– SCUBA diving systems: deeper understanding
– SCUBA diving economies: integrated or isolated?

DAY TWO
– SCUBA diving, Ocean Literacy & schools
– SCUBA diving, Citizen Science: merging business & conservation
– Sustainable SCUBA diving & labels

Representatives of stakeholders’ groups are welcome to join as auditors and/or speakers. Instructions for oral communications can be found here. The workshop language will be English, but a final wrap-up session in Italian will also be organised on day 2. A preliminary agenda can be accessed here.

The workshop will be held at Best Western Hotel Regina Elena (Santa Margherita Ligure, Genoa, Italy), right at the core of the Portofino MPA case study. The latter is one of the major diving destinations in the Mediterranean Sea.

A contribution of 50,00 Euro/day per person shall be paid directly to the hotel, on site. This gives access to the entire day, including coffee breaks and lunch. Single-day participation is also possible. Accommodation is not included. If needed, it shall be booked separately.
For organisational purposes only, please register to the workshop (one or two days) by writing to info@greenbubbles.eu – deadline August 31st.
